Late

We had an orchestra concert last night so I wasn't able to post a blog. Here's what we did yesterday and today...

Wednesday:
We worked on our morning choice activities and with exploding dots-addition, during i-time. Then, after Art, in our meeting, we completed a listening activity called, The Wright Family. In Nightmare at the Book Fair, the aliens were on Earth to meet with the leaders of the US to give a solution for our damage of the Earth with pollution and using up of fossil fuels, in the Science Fiction chapter. We also began the Humor chapter by farting. (I call this the 10 year old boy humor chapter.) We read independently and worked on understanding the characters and their choices in, The Good Deed in StoryWorks. We also continued to draft, revise, edit and publish our small moment stories. In math, we worked on understanding and representing fractions. We ended our day with an AWESOME MakerSpace where they used their creative minds to create toys!

Thursday:
This morning, we had a school community meeting where we discussed Making a Difference, honored Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Wolfe-2 Air Force veterans that are also teachers at ADE and heard from our 5th graders on Capstone. When we returned to the room, we secured our understanding of Exploding Dots with addition and in meeting shared how we help to make a difference. We ended our day discussing BCD and what we can do instead of it. (Ask your kiddo!) In Nightmare at the Book Fair, we finished up the Humor chapter with Captain Obvious and his side kicks saying immature and inappropriate words-just for fun. Boogers and snot! :) We read independently and continued our reader's workshop and writer's workshop work. After going over our Math 4 Today, we jumped in with fractions and continued working in one of three groups: cooking project, addition/subtraction of fractions or equivalent fractions/understanding fractions. Our day ended with musical rehearsal.
